Fun fact: Laughing kookaburras have the nickname “bushman’s alarm clock” because they primarily call at dawn and dusk. One kookaburra will start with a low, hiccupping chuckle, then more and more kookaburras will join in, until they throw their heads back in a loud raucous laughter.

Range: Australia, and parts of New Zealand and Tasmania
Habitat: Woodlands and Eucalyptus forests
