Our Impact

The #1 environmental concern for kids is protecting animals from extinction. At Earth Rangers, we empower children to do just that.

The Problem We're Solving

Empowering the next generation to protect our planet through education, action, and hope.

Environmental Crisis Reality

Today's children are growing up in a world where environmental challenges are no longer distant threats — they are present and accelerating. Climate change is driving more frequent and severe wildfires, floods, and storms across Canada, while biodiversity is in decline.

Eco-Anxiety Among Youth

Given these realities, it's not surprising that research shows that many young people feel anxious and powerless in the face of these crises. Earth Rangers' own Eco-Anxiety & Eco-Action Index found that:

  • Over 80% of Canadian children feel eco-anxiety, worrying about animal extinction, climate change, and the planet's future
  • 42.8% of youth report that climate change negatively affects their mental health
  • 38.3% say it impacts their daily life

While environmental awareness among children is higher than ever, opportunities for them to take meaningful, age-appropriate action remain limited. Without positive, constructive engagement, early concern can turn into hopelessness and disengagement — creating a generation less willing or able to lead future solutions.

Earth Rangers' Mission

Today's youth will be the decision-makers, consumers, and voters. If they lack the knowledge, skills, and confidence to act for the planet, our ability to protect nature long-term will be severely compromised.

Earth Rangers exists to close this gap — equipping children with the literacy, optimism, and tools they need to protect wildlife and the environment, now and throughout their lives.

Building optimistic & conscientious children

Earth Rangers programming has a positive impact on kids, resulting not only in more environmental knowledge and action, but increased confidence and optimism.

Earth Rangers tackles this challenge by turning environmental concern into empowerment. We engage children aged 6–12 through free programs that make complex environmental issues understandable, relatable, and actionable.

  • Inspiring education – Our School Assembly Program reaches hundreds of thousands of students each year, combining science, storytelling, and technology to explain environmental challenges and show kids how they can help.
  • Hands-on action – Through the Earth Rangers App, children complete Missions such as planting pollinator gardens, reducing household waste, restoring habitats, and supporting species at risk.
  • Building resilience and hope – By focusing on solutions rather than doom and gloom, we help children move from eco-anxiety to eco-agency. Research shows Earth Rangers members are 19% more likely than their peers to take regular eco-action, proving that when kids are given the tools and encouragement, they act.
  • Nationwide reach, inclusive approach– Our programs are available in English and French with a strong presence in underserved communities, ensuring all children have access to environmental education.

By connecting environmental literacy with meaningful action, Earth Rangers is helping to shape a generation that is informed, hopeful, and ready to protect our planet — now and in the future.

Earth Ranger Joel: Buzzing "Condo" Developer

Inspired by the Earth Rangers Pollinator Power Mission to protect bees, this amazing Ranger started Joel’s Bee Factory, a company that specializes in making shelters for members of the genus Apis to rest and lay eggs. Since starting out, he has sold over 50 bee condos in his native Newfoundland, spoken publicly on the importance of bees and pollinators, and has even been noticed by Dragon’s Den! Clearly on a mission, Ranger Joel says:

"It’s important to protect bees. If we don’t protect them we will mess up the whole food chain.”

Earth Ranger Cameron: Painting for the Planet

Cameron is a 10-year-old artist from Wikwemikong, Ontario, a First Nations community on Manitoulin Island. Inspired by his mom and the landscape that surrounds him, he made a generous donation to Earth Rangers after selling some of his paintings. He says:

“I love painting landscapes and sketching animals. My classmates are interested in my art at school and they love what I do. So I decided to paint and sell my paintings to fundraise to support and protect the bees. We live off the land. Whatever we take from Mother Earth we must give back. So we must help the animals and the environment so that it can be there for future generations to enjoy.”

Earth Ranger Jacob: Adding light to the world

Jacob, from Decatur, Georgia, was looking for a way to make a difference by supporting the animals he loves. This enthusiastic Earth Ranger was determined to help wildlife that live in the ocean. Jacob and his family decided to jump feet first into the Toxic Takedown Mission and tackle single-use plastics!

“I wanted to save and stop toxins that make their way into bodies of water. We decided to chose an Earth Ranger Mission as part of our Chanukah celebration to add light to the world for our global community. I had so much fun saving animals and saving bodies of water. My favorite activity was making “plastico de natural!”
